The Metaphors Abound project in Columbia SC is now accepting proposals for a win-win-win community-building exercise starting with 300 yards of handspun wool yarn. I spun this yarn on a drop spindle at various locations around Columbia.
Wool in various shades of blue, rose, and green starts out as loose, individual fibers and is made into a strong, cohesive yarn by twisting the fibers around each other. That seems to me to be a fairly decent active metaphor for community-building. I made sure to spin in public and in various locations around town in order to further the metaphor.
Now let's see what others can add! See the Metaphors Abound link for proposal submission guidelines.
